Diolaze Q & A

What is Diolaze?

Diolaze is a more advanced laser hair removal procedure. Just like a traditional laser treatment, the Diolaze laser damages the hair follicles, inhibiting them from producing hair by burning them. The Diolaze laser beam is highly concentrated and uses high peak power to target a large area of the body at one time.

Although the beams are intense, they don’t harm any of the tissue around the treatment area. The Diolaze laser makes hair removal faster than other hair removal methods, including electrolysis. It can safely and effectively treat the following areas:

  • Arms
  • Stomach
  • Bikini line
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Chin
  • Underarms
  • Legs

What can you expect during a laser procedure?

You can’t wax or pluck unwanted hair 2-4 weeks prior to treatment. Dr. Nagpal urges patients, especially women, to avoid tanning and self-tanners prior to the procedure because it increases your risk of hyperpigmentation around the treatment area.

One session takes a matter of minutes to complete. The first step involves Dr. Nagpal cleansing the treatment area and applying a cooling gel to numb your skin. Dr. Nagpal then places the tip of the laser against the surface of your skin. The laser light emitted from the device penetrates through the skin to reach the base of the hair follicle.

The procedure causes minimal pain, especially because of the numbing agent. After the procedure, you may experience mild side effects such as itching, redness, or swelling.

What kind of results can you expect from Diolaze?

The intensity of the laser allows you to see up to a 50% reduction in hair loss after the first session. Hair growth is significantly reduced, if not stopped completely, within a few treatments. Generally, the treatment requires at least 4-6 sessions. The results are permanent, so Dr. Nagpal urges men to carefully consider laser procedures for facial hair.

How do you care for the area after the procedure?

After your procedure, you should wear sunscreen when you’re outside to avoid color changes of the skin. If you have any burning or irritation after Diolaze, you can apply cool compresses to reduce swelling and relieve symptoms of irritation. A natural moisturizer can also ease your discomfort.
